Ainsley Goulbourne is the Chief Operating Officer at The New York Academy of Sciences, where he leads the strategic management of the Academy’s daily operations. His expertise lies in seamlessly executing on our strategic priorities with effective tactics, bridging the gap between visionary leadership and operational efficiency. Ainsley excels in optimizing processes, driving performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Since joining the Academy in September 2022 as the Chief Administrative Officer, Ainsley has been instrumental in developing and implementing the Academy’s strategic roadmap. He oversees key departments such as Marketing, Information Technology, Web Development, Event Operations, Membership Services, Audio Visual, and Facilities. Before his tenure at the Academy, Ainsley gained extensive experience in healthcare finance and administration. He served in various roles, from Budget Analyst to Finance Director, Administrator, and Executive Director of several departments and hospital business offices in the New York City area. His strong background in process optimization and financial management is complemented by his emphasis on people-centric leadership.
Ainsley’s educational background includes finance, accounting, information systems, and management. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Pace University and holds dual Master’s Degrees in Quantitative Methods and Modeling, and Accounting and Computer Information Systems from Baruch College. Additionally, he has a graduate certification in Leadership and Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Ainsley completed his doctoral studies at Rutgers Business School, where his research focused on organizational behavior, leadership, and diversity efficacy.
Ainsley’s experience and training has positioned him to ensure the Academy recruits and retains diverse people talent, develops effective processes and implements the appropriate technologies to support our organization’s stability, growth, and success.
